Who we are

The Power BI UK Community is a free, volunteer-run community operated by Microsoft employees in their own time. It is not an official Microsoft product or service. The community is administered at pbiukcommunity@microsoft.com.

What personal data we collect

We collect the following when you register for an event or join the mailing list:

• • Full name — to personalise communications
• • Email address — to send calendar invites and newsletters
• • Organisation (optional) — to understand our community makeup

We do not collect payment information, passwords, or any sensitive personal data.

Why we collect it (lawful basis)

We rely on consent as our lawful basis under UK GDPR. Specifically:

• • Event registrations — you provide your details to receive a calendar invite for sessions you have chosen to attend
• • Newsletter sign-ups — you opt in to receive periodic community updates

How we use your data

• • Sending calendar invites (.ics files) for sessions you register for
• • Sending the community newsletter (a few times per year)
• • Understanding how many people are registered for each session

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party, use it for advertising, or use it for any purpose beyond community communications.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database platform. Data is stored in the EU West region. Confirmation emails are sent via Resend, a transactional email service.

How long we keep your data

• • Event registrations — kept for reference and attendance records. Deleted on request.
• • Newsletter subscribers — kept until you ask to be removed.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• • Erasure — ask us to delete your data
• • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• • Withdraw consent — opt out of communications at any time
